Hey guys! I had to do my first trace repair today. This is a board for an external hard drive. The mini-USB port was mangled by the owner over it's years of use. Yes, MINI usb. He has pictures of his dog on here he was worried he would lose forever. While replacing the port, a few solder pads came up with it. So I had to learn something new. It was very fun.
A mother dropped this off last week praying it could be fixed by Christmas. Left in storage for years with batteries intact, it was a corroded mess inside. $500 from Disney!
I took it apart, desoldered the battery terminals, soaked them in white vinegar, cleaned them best I could. One of the springs had broken off, so I bought a flashlight and harvested one from it. Replaced. Resoldered. Screwed back together.
"Vuuuuummmm..." :D
I had a whole section dedicated to this project but it's been a long time now, so I'm moving it here instead of in the nav.
My guitar pedal. Some fun milestones from the project.
Miss you Thomas.
